Frequently Asked Questions

Here is a list of Frequently Asked Questions regarding this project:

  • How big will the new skate plaza be?

  • At this time, the St. Cloud Parks Department is designating 40,000 sq/ft of space for the skate plaza

  • Why do you refer to it as a skate plaza? Is there a difference between a skate park and a skate plaza?

  • A skate park typically refers to an asphalt or cement lot with skateboard ramps sitting on top of it. A skate plaza refers to a landscaped park space that has skateable features such as stairs and benches built into the design.

  • Why did you name your website stcloudskatepark.com if you're going to build a skate "plaza?"

  • Because the City of St. Cloud already had a fund set up called "St. Cloud Skateboard Park Improvement Fund" so we wanted to keep the name similar. Also, people who search for this site using internet search engines are more likely to use the term "skate park" than "skate plaza," and we wanted to make it easy to find.

  • How much will the new skate plaza cost?

  • Based on the proposed size, it compares with other skate plazas that have cost between $500,000 and $1,000,000

  • Who is going to pay for this?

  • This project will be funded through fundraising efforts.

  • When will it be completed?

  • That depends on how quickly the money can be raised. If all goes well, construction could begin within 1 year and the plaza could open the following year.
