Project History
St. Cloud, MN is in the process of building a new skate plaza.
It started when Austin Lee, a freshman at Apollo High School in St. Cloud decided his town should have a public park to skate in. Then on July 4, 2006 at a local celebration, Austin approached the Mayor with his idea.

A week later, the Mayor asked Austin to be on the St. Cloud Park and Rec board so he could manage this project using the proper channels and processes.
Project Progress
At this time, Austin and the park board have made the following progress:
- have obtained city approval and support
- have visited several other skate parks and plazas around the state and nation and have obtained valuable information from Park and Rec directors from each location
- have held a public meeting to introduce the skate plaza and obtain support from the community
- have met with several local business leaders who have committed their support once preliminary designs are in place
- have established a location for the new skate plaza
- have received excellent media coverage (see Media page)
- have set up a fund for donations (see Donations page)
- have completed the preliminary designs (see Plans page)
Next Project StepsThe immediate next steps of this project are:
- continue to gather support and donations from the community and area businesses
- reach goal of raising $250,000 so construction can begin in 2009
